A third generation guitar and fiddle player to the Weiser National Oldtime Fiddle Contest, Rick began playing guitar at the age of eight for his father, Dwayne Youngblood, and has attended the National Oldtime Fiddle Contest for forty-eight consecutive years.
Rick is a past Idaho State and National Men’s Champion fiddler (1979), last competing in 1995, winning 5th in the National Adult Division. He left competitive fiddling but continues today to accompany many top fiddlers in state, regional, and national contests. It has been his pleasure to judge the Weiser Nationals twice, along with six state and seven regional contests. He was elected to the National Oldtime Fiddle Association Executive Board in 2008, wishing to give back to this great tradition and art.
Weiser will be celebrating its 60th year in 2012, and is planning lots of fun activities. Rick sure looks forward to being there again. Rick and his wife Arlene have been married thirty-nine years and have two married children and five grandchildren. Rick delights in serving the public and has been a banker for twenty-eight years, as well as serving as a county highway commissioner.
